August 11, 2009. Nassau, Bahamas – Being part of a winning team and staying on top of their game: These are what drive the Furniture Plus Sales Team. Still celebrating their company's honor at being named Outstanding Business of the Year by The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce, Krystynia Lee d'Arville, Director of Sales & Marketing for Furniture Plus, led her Nassau sales team in another year of outstanding efforts.

"We know our sales team and guest services ambassadors are the key to our success in this business," noted d'Arville, "so three years ago we launched a dynamic training program that prepared our team and created a unique bond within our company. We went way beyond typical training standards and took the time to learn about our team and connect with each team member. This in turn compelled them to achieve more."

These efforts were recognized last month in a storewide ceremony to honor the top sales achievers and most improved representatives while thanking the staff for their commitment to Furniture Plus and The Plus Group of Companies. "I work with an amazing group of ladies," said Dawn Forbes, Executive Assistant to Sales & Marketing and team leader of the Nassau sales force. "Since joining the company a year ago I now see a more unified team that has stayed positive despite the economic downturn. They have kept sales going and made great targets."

The top sales award for the Nassau Furniture Plus team went to Joanne Ferguson, a three year winner and 14-year veteran of Furniture Plus. She was closely followed by Mizpah Johnson and Beverly Smith. Most improved Nassau sales went to Jonelle Rollins, Nathalie LaFrance and Allison Cox.

"Working in sales is a real challenge in itself, and joining a team with many established sales staff members can sometimes be hard too," said Cox, a three-year veteran with the company. "But Mrs. d'Arville and her managers have provided wonderful training that has helped us look at what we do in a new way. That's what has made the difference for me. What used to be a struggle is now enjoyable, and I'm eagerly meeting new customers to help them create the beautiful homes they desire every day."

Performance bonuses also went to Guest Services team members Shawntrell Farrington, Brenetta Moss, Catherine Coakley, Brindisa Major, Madeen Bullard, Sharell Fox, Tatum Brice, Clavia Rolle, Danielle Thompson and Kett Kemp. Additional performance bonuses for sales went to Shonalee Griffin, Monique Johnson, Vandeka Winder and Emily Rolle.

Rewards for team members ranged from cruises, cash bonuses, and gift certificates to local supermarkets and gas stations. "While we want our overall team to reach its goals and objectives, we also want each team member to achieve their personal targets and be fulfilled in what they are doing," commented d'Arville. "That's been the goal of our new training. We are creating a team here, not an aggressive sales-driven staff. A happy company makes for better customer relations and service, and we can't ask for more than that."

Furniture Plus was founded in December of 1988 by the late Paul Patrick Tyrone d'Arville and his son, Troy T. d'Arville. Over the past 20 years Furniture Plus has grown into one of the Bahamas' leading furniture retailers with a selection of furniture that includes bedroom, dining, living, entertainment, home office and accessories. They are also the exclusive factory distributor of both Kenmore Appliances — America's #1 Appliance Brand — and JVC Electronics, the leader in the electronics industry today. With two locations in Nassau and Grand Bahama and plans for a third in Abaco, Furniture Plus was named Outstanding Business of the Year for 2009 by The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce.
