The Bahamas - December 9, 2009. The islands of The Bahamas have often been described as a "treasure," so Furniture Plus spent most of this year promoting our islands as part of their 20th Anniversary celebrations. This theme continues throughout the company's annual Christmas promotion when they will be sharing "Islands of Treasure" with their customers and the community in the true spirit of the season. Everyone is invited to participate in both receiving treasure (over $75,000 in weekly prizes) and giving treasure (through the Charity of Hope campaign).

"We often forget the beauty of our own country," said Krystynia Lee d'Arville, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Furniture Plus. "For most of 2009 we promoted the concept of appreciating The Bahamas, one of the most sought-out vacation destinations on earth. As we finalize our 20th Anniversary celebrations, we will give away 16 fabulous treasures of our own during the Christmas season. Eligible customers will have an opportunity to choose the unique key that will unlock treasure chests in our stores. We are thrilled for the twelve winners thus far who have taken home luxurious prizes like accessory packages and bedroom suites!"

Not content to lavish treasure on their customers only, Furniture Plus will also continue their very successful annual charitable giving program. "Our Charity of Hope campaign started four years ago when we invited our customers to purchase lovely Bahamian-made candles and decorative Angels of Hope (Christmas tree tags) in our stores," noted d'Arville. "The company matches all sales and donates the proceeds to deserving charities in The Bahamas."

Furniture Plus Nassau Charity of Hope sales will assist the Children's Emergency Hostel while Grand Bahama will continue to work with the Grand Bahama Children’s Home. "Assistance from this event is key to our survival each year," said Jean Hivert, Grand Bahama Children's Home Executive Committee. "Just like most homes, this year we have had to deal with increased costs and, unfortunately, more children. The continued assistance of Furniture Plus and their customers will help us make ends meet." Last Christmas, Furniture Plus and their customers raised over $7,500 through the program.

Nassau winner unlocks a treasure for her MOM! Lucky shopper Bethsheva Sands waited to try her winning key until week five of the eight-week event. She was convinced that it was not her time to win the week before, so she waited until she felt lucky! Bethsheva returned with her mother, as she wished to give the prize to her should she win, and she did! The Charity of Hope campaign has become a highlight to the Christmas Season at Furniture Plus. "It's great to make sales," said Dawn Forbes, Executive Assistant Sales and Marketing FP Team Nassau, "but when customers realize that Furniture Plus will match their Charity of Hope contributions – well, that's just icing on the cake. You can easily see the success of this program when you walk into the stores and see all the angels on the trees, real Angels of Hope!"

The tradition of caring and sharing is something the Plus Family plans to continue. For them, helping others in not a question of "should we help" but of "whom shall we help." "Our staff truly embraces this chance to give back to our communities, and they choose whom we assist," said d'Arville. "However it is our customers who show us how it's done, because the more they give the more we give back. And that is what truly makes us proud to live and work here in our 'Islands of Treasure.' On behalf of everyone here at Furniture Plus, we would like to thank our loyal customers for joining us again this year in helping these two worthy charities."

Furniture Plus was founded in December of 1988 by the late Paul Patrick Tyrone d'Arville and his son, Troy T. d'Arville. They are also the exclusive factory distributor of both Kenmore Appliances — America's #1 Appliance Brand — and JVC Electronics, the leader in the electronics industry today. With locations in Nassau, Grand Bahama, and coming soon to Abaco, Furniture Plus is now a nationally recognized brand. In 2009,The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce named Furniture Plus "Outstanding Business of the Year," a highlight of the company's year-long 20th Anniversary celebrations.
